Russell Harlow, Clarinetist

Co-Director of the Park City International Music Festival since 1985.
In 2002 Russell Harlow was invited to become an official Yamaha Artist and has been working directly with Yamaha on clarinet design.
Russell Harlow will be lecturing and performing at the International Clarfest 2003 in Salt Lake City. His lecture will include a demonstration of his CD Rom Multimedia Encyclopedia of the Clarinet which includes results of his research on the finest clarinetists of the past century. He has performed for the International ClarFest in the past as well as the Amsterdam Chamber Players in a live television broadcast, is currently associate principal clarinetist of the Utah Symphony with numerous recordings to his credit. Mr. Harlow joined the Utah Symphony at the age of 21.
Upcoming are releases of the music of Leo Sowerby and a compact disc with Flutist Laurel Ann Maurer and pianist Joanne Pearce-Martin of works of Meyer Kupferman.
Mr. Harlow has also served as principal clarinet for the Utah Symphony and Buffalo Philharmonic. He is also featured as soloist on a number of filmscores. He studied with Gary Foster, Mitchell Lurie and Harold Wright.
Russell Harlow's artistry has led him to become one of the nation's premiere solo and chamber artists. Recent performances include the Debussy Rhapsody, Andante con Eleganza by Pierne and the Beethoven Opus 11 Trio in a Park City International Music Festival concert December 9, 2002 with violist Leslie Harlow and pianist Gail Niwa. During January 2003 Mr. Harlow will be performing and recording contemporary works for the Contemporary Music Consortium of Salt Lake with flutist Laurel Ann Maurer and pianist John Jenson.
September 2002, Mr. Harlow performed the Schickele Quartet with the Leonore Trio in New Jersey.
The summer of 2002 he performed extensively with the Park City International Music Festival including performances with violinists Charles Libove, Arturo Delmoni, Rebekah Johnson, Philippe Djokic. Works performed included the Coleridge-Taylor and Reicha Quintets and the Schickele Quartet.
Clarinetist Harlow has also performed with the Amsterdam Chamber Players in Holland, for the Sitka Festival and with the Anchorage Fall Classics Festival in Alaska, with the Muir String Quartet, with the Raphael Trio at the Music from Ouray Festival and at Carnegie's Weill Hall in New York City.
